We doubt that it would be possible for anyone other than Tom Selleck to play the title character in Magnum, P.I. This is why it is so surprising to hear that it almost went to someone else! The producers wanted to cast Kevin Dobson. Luckily, he turned it down, and the part went to Selleck.
