Let us talk some more about Thomas Magnum and his sweet ride. Tom Selleck is a tall guy, and this actually led to several problems. Initially, they wanted the character to ride a Porsche, but this was impossible because of his physique! As you might have guessed, the Red Ferrari served as a replacement for the Porsche. That sucks for Porsche because Ferrari sales probably went up when the show aired.

Larry Manetti, his Magnum costar, released a memoir called Aloha Magnum in 1996. Many people expected it to contain all the dirt on his colleagues, particularly about the man who portrayed the title character himself. However, they were surprised to find the opposite is true! He did not have anything but good things to say about Selleck. Manetti praised his work ethic on the set, charity work, and love for the cast and crew members.
