This historical drama is based on Dr. Martin Luther King’s march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, to secure equal voting rights. While the movie is criticized for the depiction of the relationship between King and President Johnson, the rest of the movie got it right. Important historical scenes were recreated, so despite the controversy, this movie got good reviews and was nominated for an Oscar.

Green Book

This movie tells the story of “Tony Lip” Vallelonga, who becomes unlikely friends with an African American classical pianist in the South during the 1960s. The movie is considered to be accurate by many since Vallelonga’s son, Nick is one of the screenwriters. The movie won three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor.
