Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
While this movie is almost completely fictional, the reason it’s on this list is because of its production value. This movie was the first to portray such accurate costumes and ships on screen. The sound of the naval battles matches their description in the novels of Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey-Maturin, which the movie is based on. It will make you feel like you’re truly in the 1800s.
Downfall
Telling the story of Adolf Hitler’s last days as the leader of the Nazi party, this movie partially succeeds to make one of the most hated men in history almost somewhat relatable. This movie caused quite a stir since many people felt that Hitler shouldn’t be humanized. While there isn’t much information about what took place in the bunker in the last days of the man’s life, the director tried to be as accurate as possible.
