Raquel Welch is an American singer and actress. This is a photo of her during her performance in South Vietnam for her USO Christmas Tour in 1967. The knit mint dress she was wearing immediately became a hit. Bob Hope performed with her during the said tour, entertaining the U.S. soldiers who were fighting in the Vietnam War. Welch became very popular when she appeared in the movie Fantastic Voyage but she became even more famous for starring in the movie One Million Years B.C. Welch only had three lines in the said movie, but she quickly rose to her sex-symbol status for donning a fur bikini in the film.

This photo was taken when David Bowie appeared in Cher’s variety show. It was known to be one of his most memorable TV appearances. He performed a medley which was criticized for its song choices as it was “all over the place.” However, the viewers loved it. His website states, “On paper, it looks a little cheesy, but if you’ve not seen it we think you’ll agree that both singers’ performances are sincere and heartfelt. It shouldn’t have worked, what with Cher’s house band performing the backing, and the choice of snippets performed, but it did.”
