Christ Is A Title
Before we mentioned the error that was made in the name of Jesus, let us tackle how Jesus became the man whom we Christians believed as the Son of God. We always knew him in the name of Jesus Christ. However, there was much evidence telling us Christ was not a name, and it was a title given to the Messiah.
The Anointed One
It was true that Christ was a title that came from the Greek word Christos, which came from the Hebrew term Mashiach. The name meant “The anointed,” and if we were going to translate it into an English word, it would say “Messiah.” In the tradition of the Hebrew, people who had done great did to their fellow humans were anointed by a unique holy oil. However, the Messiah we knew would not be recognized in his daily life as our savior Jesus Christ.
