Tiberius succeeded Augustus and ruled from 14 AD until 37 AD. Born to Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Drusilla, he went on to become the second Roman emperor. He was born in Rome on November 16, 42 BC and died in Miseno on March 16, 37 AD. He once said, “In a free state there should be freedom of speech and thought”.
