Dante Alighieri

Dante Alighieri was the man who wrote The Divine Comedy. During the late Middle Ages, he was considered to be one of the most influential poets in Italy. His writings described Hell and Heaven, and some of the things he wrote are now common Christian establishments. Apart from his poetry, he was a respected philosopher whose ideas continue to be relevant. He died in 1321 at the age of 56.
