Informal
Peggy was somewhat reluctant to write to Billie from the very beginning because, after all, it was Billie’s father who had urged that she do something along these lines. Billie was in the process of becoming a pilot when his father came up with the ingenious plan to encourage him by sending him letters written by a young woman. Peggy felt some unease about the circumstances of the scenario. Peggy shared with Billie’s dad the fact that she would never engage in conversation of that nature with an unknown male.
Taking Initiative
Peggy’s father was beginning to get the impression that his daughter-in-law was either a bit timid or simply uninterested in his son. He decided to take matters into his own hands and began engaging Billie in conversation about Peggy instead. Billie had been writing Peggy letters before he even realized it. Peggy admitted that she had some initial apprehensions due to the fact that she was unfamiliar with Billie. Everything changed when Billie went on vacation and went to see Peggy; the two of them connected right away and became fast friends.
