All the President’s Men

All the President’s Men is based on the novel written by Bob Woodard and Carl Bernstein, who were responsible for shedding light on the scandal that brought down President Richard M. Nixon. This film gives a detailed account of the break-in at the Democratic National Committee in the Watergate complex and the subsequent political turmoil. The film manages to be so exact, not only because of the directors and actors but even the production crew, who went to great lengths to provide real desks used in the newsroom. This film has made the list of National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

This film had every opportunity to be dramatized but director David Fincher refused to do so. Instead, he stayed true to the story, even if the unresolved ending disappointed audiences. The filmmakers even spent 18 months trying to find their insight into the killings, which they then used to make the film as incredible as it stands.
