Das Boot
The 1980s was a popular time for submarine movies to be made. Unfortunately, it was rare that they were good. Das Boot, however, managed to do one thing that no other submarine film did, and that was to show how infuriating fighting in a war while being in a submarine can be. Director Wolfgang Peterson brings to the big screen a story filled with real emotion. He successfully portrays the intense battle, while also highlighting the unique submarine warfare.
