After being released in 2003, City Of God received critical acclaim. The cinema feature is based on real events that followed the increase in organized crime in the “Cidade de Deus” (City of God) suburb of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It takes place during the late 1960s to the early 1980s and highlights the climactic battle between drug dealer Li’l Zé and criminal Ned.
