What Nadya Suleman and Dr. Kamrava did was unprecedented. Implanting as many embryos as they did was such a radical deviation from the standard medical practice, but Nadya Suleman had no regrets. Others would have been totally terrified, but Nadya? She was totally excited about it. Out of the 12 embryos that they had implanted, eight stuck, and Nadya conceived eight children – all at once. However, a person’s desire and what one can handle are actually two different things. The main question then was whether Nadya had the ability to deliver eight babies at once, after having six children, previously. She found out the answer soon enough.

Having carried her eight babies until delivery was quite strenuous on Nadya’s body. One was difficult enough, eight would have been a lot more than what a normal woman could handle. The media soon found her story and Nadia, as well as her children, quickly became sensational. This is when the moniker “Octomom” was born. Not all Californian single moms get to be on the news, but there was a good reason for Octomom’s notoriety. It would turn out that Nadya’s pregnancy was a record-breaking event that would change her life – but not all for the better.
