Ever wondered why others would refer to Bob Denver’s character as Gilligan but the Skipper would always call him “little buddy”? Well, it’s actually something the crew did to make things interesting. Actor Alan Hale Jr., who played the Skipper, was known to address other people as “little buddy”. The crew saw that this name calling was fitting for the Skipper’s character as well.
