Eileen Derbyshire would work every day for 55 years, donning her costume to play Emily Bishop on Coronation Street’s long-running TV show. Before quitting in 2019, she would become the show’s longest-serving female cast member. Eileen began her acting career on stage, joining Century Theatre’s touring company before landing small roles that led to an audition for Coronation Street. On a personal note, the former actress is the mother of sports reporter Oliver Holt.

Barbara Knox – Rita Tanner from Coronation Street
Barbara Knox, best known for her long-running role as Rita Tanner on Coronation Street, was only supposed to make a guest’s appearance in 1964. She did, however, become a permanent member of the cast in 1972. She went on to play this role for the next 50 years, making her the show’s second-longest starring cast member after William Roache. Feel the Width, A Family at War, Emergency – Ward 10, and Goodbye, Mr. Chips all have her name in the credits.
