The “Volkswagen Beach Bomb” prototype from 1969, built with surfboards hanging out the back window and wheels that made it too big for the race tracks of Mattel, is among the most valuable. Although it has never been widely made, that’s what makes it all the more valuable to collectors, who value it at around $125,000.

This “pristine” 1938 version went up for sale in 2014, to staggering results, as the most expensive comic ever sold on eBay. Hey, why the frenzy? This is the comic that brought Superman to the world for the first time, and there are less than 50 of them worldwide.
