Dr. Douglas Owsley is the chief forensic anthropologist working at the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution. He examined her and saw that she had cuts and marks that came from attempts to get the brain and tissue from the bone. It matched the timeline since the winter of 1609 was particularly tough on the people of Jamestown.

The Mary Rose warship went down in 1545 while engaging the French in battle. It belonged to the navy under King Henry VIII. It was discovered nearly 500 years after it sank! They found many crew members and examined their remains. The archer on the ship was among them.
