‘Ava’
Achavanich is a mysterious site in Northern Scotland. This horseshoe-shaped arrangement was where they found the remains of a woman they then called ‘Ava’. They believed that she was 18 to 22 years old at the time of her death. Can you believe that her remains go back to more than 3,700 years ago?
What ‘Ava’ Really Looked Like
Archaeologists Hew Morrison and Maya Hoole worked on the ‘Achavanich Beaker Burial Project’. They worked on the facial reconstruction of the woman they discovered. By doing this, they learned a lot about Ava and the Bronze age. Her DNA allowed them the opportunity to see what she looked like!
