What Nero Really Looked Like
Earlier this year, Spanish artists created a realistic rendering of Nero using descriptions, busts, and drawings of the Roman Emperor. They captured his attributes with precision, from the chinstrap to the smirk. A fire consumed Rome in 64 A.D. What did Nero do? He dressed up, went to the roof, and sang from there! Before he could be executed, he killed himself after saying, “What an artist dies in me!”
Nefertiti
Nefertiti was the Great Royal of Akhenaten. This limestone bust of her was covered in stucco and thought to be the work of Thutmose of Amarna, Egypt. Believed to be made in 1345 B.C., it was found in the workshop of the artist in 1912. The sculpture showed that the Egyptian queen had a beautiful and defined face. Was this what she actually looked like?
