She is a performance artist as well as an actress. In Dirty Sexy Money, Candis became the first transgender actress to play a recurring transgender character in a prime-time series. She was also named the new global creative director of the global LGBT social network MOOVZ in 2015.
About transitioning, she said, “In the first couple of years when you’re transitioning, you don’t really fit into any gender because you’re changing over. You have to start getting electrolysis before you even start your therapy. But I think all the weird looks help to give you conviction in who you really are.”

Jazz is a YouTube personality, spokesmodel, and LGBT rights activist, and television personality. She is one of the most recent transgender people to be publicly documented. In 2007, she co-founded the TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation, which aims to help transgender youth. She then founded Purple Rainbow Tails, a company that creates rubber mermaid tails to raise funds for transgender children, in 2013.
About her trans identity, she said, “If I wasn’t confident in who I am or didn’t like the fact that I was transgender, then I would not have gotten as far as I have today. Also, if you accept yourself, then you’ll find that others will accept you as well, and having that support is really reassuring.”
