Another Person Butted In
As you can imagine, this terrified the young girl. She looked at her brother. He was selling some candy a bit further down. However, he was a little too far to know what was happening to the young girl. The woman was clearly gearing up to spew more vitriol when someone intervened. “What’s going?” a different shopper asked. He asked the child, “Are you selling this candy?” Was he the store manager? It was hard to tell. At the very least, it did not look like he was a cop.

The youngster was frozen in fear. “I’m… just selling candy,” she said before bursting into tears. He then turned to the woman, curious to see what exactly was going on. “She doesn’t have a permit, and she doesn’t have permission from the store to be selling food on their premises,” she told him. “But don’t worry,” she went on, “I’ve called the police.” Jay Lopez, the man who stepped in, was confused.
