During an interview on Good Morning America, Sam Elliott shared his experience on the set of A Star is Born with Bradley Cooper. Elliott remarked about the trust actors need in order to make a scene and a movie work. Elliott said, ” He [Cooper] set a tone that allowed us to trust him… he talked to us about trust in him… and I think when you can trust the director and trust your fellow actors, the odds are you’re going to get to the truth.”

One would think that since Elliot has such a nice voice that it would fit all his roles. But in fact, Dan Petrie, the director of Lifeguard, did not like it and asked Sam to repeat his lines while being “less south in the mouth.” Sam did not take offense in it and was even amused by it.
