The initiative’s symbolism was uncovered in a statement issued by the Walmart Foundation at the time. “A green light means go and that’s what veterans are known for – their ability to take action quickly no matter the challenge.”

“Green is the color of hope, renewal, and well-being.” according to an excerpt from the Green Light a Vet Facebook page. “‘Green Light’ is also a term commonly used to activate forward movement.” And it’s for this reason that the lush hue was chosen as the best way to “shine a light on America’s veterans.”
