The animal was a beloved Sadgorod Zoo resident feline. She turned around and was always an odd cat. However, she fell pregnant suddenly. Before giving birth, everyone in the area wanted to make sure she felt safe!

The Search For Musya

Although she waddled around the zoo, she was never alone. The staff couldn’t help but be anxious when they realized Musya was missing. There were geese, chickens, and raccoons. Besides those, they also had lions, monkeys, bears, tigers, and others… the bigger animals might endanger the cat! That’s why they started searching for the missing feline.

The Search For Musya

One Of The Residents

The truth was Musya was different from the other zoo animals. She mistakenly became her resident! A zookeeper called Alice found her at work. She noticed a snow-moving black thing on a cold winter day. Clearly, this wasn’t just a pile of dirt. The tiny black kitty was nearly frozen! There were icicles on her nose, and she barely moved. Alice took her to the vets at the zoo.

A Tiny Cat

Alice placed the cat in her jacket and looked for the vets immediately. To keep the kitty alive, the professionals did everything in their power. Nothing else was there to do but to wait and see. They were amazed but pleased that the cat had made it through the night. She began to gain strength as the days went by. They took her to the staffroom and made sure she had all the love and care she needed to give her.

They All Loved Her

The zoo’s entire staff loved Musya. They were happy to see her get strong, running around the room all day. Still, they realized the zoo wasn’t her best place. Cats are eager to explore their surroundings and have to look out the window. Opposite, she saw wild animals! When the zookeepers accidentally left the door open, she took it to sneak out!

She Got Out Of There

Alice would take Musya on short walks, but the cat was always leashed. She feared the feline would fall in an enclosure. They managed to do this for nearly a year. However, when she left the room alone, everyone fell into a panic. Two days they searched for Musya. Alice checked out various enclosures, hoping that the cat wouldn’t meet her doom.

Holding Onto Hope

Everybody at the zoo hoped that the cat was okay. They knew just how dangerous for a cat the situation could be. The others warned Alice that Musya might never return. She held onto hope despite this. She soon found out that having faith is sometimes good!

She Returned Home

Musya, after two days, went home. She alerted the employees of her presence by pawing at the door. Alice let out a cry of relief after seeing that the cat was safe and sound. She started to wonder if the time had come to look for the cat’s home. It was too hard to say goodbye, though, so Musya ended up staying there!

She Was Different

They began to notice a change in Musya a couple of weeks after her return. They found it odd that she was so cranky and lethargic. She was always playful and sweet before she left the room. Suddenly, when the door was opened, the cat did not want to head outside of the room. What was going on?

Something Was Up

It felt like returning a completely different cat. When she left the room, she’d just lie on the floor. They knew something changed. Alice noticed the difference in her behavior, but she didn’t know what was going on. It felt like Musya was ‘broken.’ She suddenly lost any interest in the outside world. Everyone was at a loss then. The real reason surprised them!

She Went Missing Again

One day, in the staff room, Alice came back for a cup of tea. As usual, she wanted to cuddle up with Musya. To her surprise, she was not able to find the animal anywhere there. She went missing one more time! It was even worse this time since the weather had been bad. Not only did she hear the rain, but she also heard thunder.

They Looked For Her

The whole staff already knew by that time that they had to look for Musya. They were supposed to bring her back as soon as possible! They took their flashlights and set out to search for them. Every single place imaginable, the zookeepers went through and kept an ear out for meows. She had to be there somewhere…

In The Bushes

Outside the premises of the zoo, there were also cars and parking areas. It did not sound likely that Musya would have been able to go anywhere else. Alice thought she had definitely been to the zoo. She just heard something all of a sudden. Past the lion cage, there was a wooden area. It seemed that the cry was coming from a bush there. Alice pointed towards the spot with her flashlight. To her relief, she saw the cat over there!

She Was Not On Her Own

Musya was sitting peacefully in the bush. The fact that she was not alone was the most shocking part! There was something that was crawling on her chest. After taking a closer look, she was shocked by what she could see. She had found four kittens there with her! However, it turns out that there was still the biggest surprise to come.

Moreover, all of them were shocked by the kittens. But what made them gasp was that there was something else crawling up her chest. When they spotted the baby hedgehogs there, they were unable to keep their surprise at bay. There was no way they would simply be able to leave them in that place.

They Got Her A Box

One of them came back to the building and grabbed a blanket and a box. They could bring all the animals away from the way of harm in this way. One by one, Alice picked the creatures up and put them into the container. The plan was for all of them to be taken to the vet. As you can imagine, at that time, they had a lot of questions.

She Had Babies

She brought Musya and all the babies to the veterinarian. The vet frowned a little bit after taking a look at them and then let out a burst of laughter. He said, “I’ve never seen anything like this.” Then he began to take a look at the animals. He left the room, after separating the kittens and the hedgehogs, to discuss it with Alice.

But as soon as Musya was alone with the children, she undid all her hard work. Out of one box, she took the kittens and then transferred them all to the one with the hedgehogs! The mother cat rested with all of them, allowing the babies to drink their milk and stay close to the heat. Alice went back to this lovely sight.

An Adoptive Mom

It was evident that Musya wanted the eight hedgehog babies to be mothers. She did not think it was a good idea, even though Alice was amazed. The kittens could, after all, get hurt by their siblings’ pricks from another species. Again, she split them up, but the hedgehogs refused her attempt to feed them in the bottle.

Together Once More

Even if Alice knew that keeping the animals together was not a good idea, Mustya wanted to take care of all the babies. Alice finally learned, not long after this, where the hedgehogs came from. Maybe their mom got into an accident inside the zoo. She recalled a particular lawnmower incident.

On Their Own

The hedgehogs must have been on their own for a couple of days until Musya saw them. The babies were probably starving before the cat had taken them in as her own children. No one knew if she did this before or after having given birth to the kittens. For this strange little family, what was next?

Raising Baby Hedgehogs

Can you believe that the hedgehogs never stung Musya? In the end, she raised them as her own. Alice was always there, every time she could, to lend a hand. The entire staff installed an enclosure for the family outside of the staff room. When the story was posted online, in no time at all, it caused quite a stir.

The people who saw them were stunned by all the adorable pictures of the strange family. By the maternal instinct of Musya, cat lovers were blown away. They all agreed that the cat had been a gentle mom. Isn’t it a nice thing to see what she can do? Musya showed the same kindness by doing this that Alice did a year earlier.

A Happy Family

The baby hedgehogs are now adults, in case you’re wondering. Every single day, Musya continues to keep an eye on them. She would go to their enclosure to make sure they were fine. Honestly, we have no clue what we would do if our cat had adopted an entire litter of hedgehogs!

Unlikely Family

This story is not, it turns out, the only one of its kind! As of late, another cat named Rosinka made new headlines in Russia. She was adopted by a baby squirrel monkey named Fyodor. After being abandoned by his own mother, the little creature was taken home by a zookeeper. Luckily, Rosinka began to comfort the baby almost immediately. Perhaps helping other baby animals out when they’re in need is the norm for cats in Russia?

Bad Reputation

We all know what kind of reputation cats tend to have, but we think they might be terribly misunderstood. They’re usually less popular than dogs, and it’s a pity, really. Many dog owners seem to be certain that they are this way due to cats’ malicious behavior. However, cat owners worldwide have been eager to have cats for centuries now, and for a good reason!

The Benefits To Owning A Cat

It is said that owning a cat will help lower the risk of heart disease and even improve the owner’s sleep. Cats tend to have calm personalities that contribute to less stress and anxiety for their owners. A cat’s purr, in fact, is a continuous vibration that tends to boost relaxation. It is known that owning a cat decreases allergies during childhood years, too. Finally, while lounging on the couch and watching TV, owners have always spoken highly of having the company of a cat.
