It was not easy to fight cancer. To her, the Navy was where she could escape from it and focus on the job at hand. Rogers did not want to share her condition because she did not think it was a huge deal. Also, she was afraid that they would give her a lot of time away because of it. If this happened, she knew that she would not get her dream job. She wanted to be a chief petty officer more than anything else.
