The Last Emperor

Historians still debate the rise and fall of China’s most recent emperor and are trying to piece together what exactly occurred. Bernardo Bertolucci and writer Mark Peploe did their best to illustrate what they know, but since details are lacking it may not all be perfectly accurate. They do, however, manage to capture the political disorder while also creating remarkable imagery of ancient China.

Tora! Tora! Tora! is more historically correct, compared to Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor, also because this rendition focuses on both sides rather than one perspective. This way, the directors were able to get into the deep roots of why Pearl Harbor occurred. Another feature that makes the film seem so precise, is the addition of a real-life-aircraft carrier known as the Yorktown.
