Being Open

Nadya is extremely open about everything, and by that we mean everything. She is open about her own social phobias and fragility and about proving that she isn’t the caricature that the tabloids portray her as. She is also beams with pride and shows the world how her kids are thriving. “They’re the only surviving eight octuplets in the history of mankind. “I’ve raised them to be wide-awake.” The fact that they are wide-awake means that her kids are also fully aware of the darker period in her life. Nadya said, “we talk about everything.“They know, they went through it with me. It’s a huge weight lifted off of all of them when I went back to who I was. We were struggling financially.” She adds how it’s, “a blessing to be able to be free from that. Those were chains.”

How The Older Children Feel

The reporter then turned his attention onto the older children, and it seems they have mixed feelings about all the media attention. One of her eldest daughters, Amerah voiced how,“Most of my friends don’t know about the eight.” She explained how, “When they were born, I was in elementary school. I would get questions about everything. But I would answer and say…I get that you’re interested, but I wouldn’t intrude on your family, why intrude on mine?” Nadya’s 15 year old son Joshua, a gamer, responds differently when people asked questions. He said: “Some of my friends don’t have any siblings, so they want to know what it’s like. It’s nice to have someone to play with.” Still, he did add how “it can be overwhelming at times.” And we totally understand!
