Nadya opened up to the reporter, revealing how “I was the classic victim, a victim of having an alcoholic father, a victim of having been an only child, hungry to fill that void and victim of fate since I couldn’t conceive naturally.” She then added how “most of all, I was misled by my doctor.” Now here is where the story gets even more intriguing. Nadya revealed that she only originally wanted twins, but her doctor, Dr. Kamrava “told me we lost six embryos, he said they were expelled out of me, and that’s why he wanted to implant another six.” However her doctor countered this in other interviews by explaining that Nadya was the one that had pressured him into the multiple rounds of implants. Either way Dr. Kamrava, an Iranian national, lost his US medical license in 2011 and left the country soon after.

The reporter then turned the spotlight back to Nadya and asked how she was able to afford to fund the multiple rounds of IVF. Nadya explained that she studied for a  B.S. in child development and worked for a state mental hospital for three years. During that time she suffered an injury, which resulted in over $80,000 in disability payments. She also received a subsequent family inheritance of $60,000, which all helped to fund her expensive IVF treatments.
