Not long after settling in New York, Crystal had a bun in the oven. It was a good thing that she was able to obtain a Medicaid card under her new identity. She wound up bearing three more kids after that. While living in New York, she integrated into the Dominican community.

She got very close to the members of the Dominican community. She would call the others “cousin” and “grandma.” This was how she earned a new family. Even though her new life was going well, she still thought a lot about her past.
