This 1989 film follows an Irish boy called Christy Brown who has cerebral palsy. Even though he is mostly paralyzed, the main character is able to control his left foot. The incredible thing about this is that he uses this body part to become a painter, poet, and author. The team brought it to life for $600,000 and still earned critical acclaim, nominations, and $14.7 million.

The romantic drama Blue Valentine follows the story of a couple from the moment they met to the dramatic demise of the once-passionate relationship.
