The picture was taken during the filming of the 1958 movie Vertigo. It shows the director, Alfred Hitchcock and actress, Kim Novak. The movie is based on the Boileau Narcejac novel “From Among the Dead.” Actually, Kim Novak was not the first choice to play the part, Vera Miles was, in fact, Hitchcock’s first choice. However, the said actress dropped out of the film due to her pregnancy. The United States Library of Congress has recognized the movie as “culturally, historically and aesthetically significant.”
