If the general population in the United States had seen this photograph at the time, they would have reacted violently. That is one of the reasons why the CIA opted to keep it classified. This photograph was taken at a warehouse that had chemical weapons that had been leftover from the Cold War.

The Berlin Wall’s Origins
The German Democratic Republic began construction of the Berlin Wall on August 13, 1961, utilizing only the most basic of materials. As part of the effort to separate Berlin, a concrete barrier was also constructed and guarded. After that, it was demolished in 1989.
