You Were Never Really Here
This film tracks the life of a hitman- played by Joaquin Phoenix- who was hired by a senator to save his daughter from big dangers. This may seem like a very familiar plot, but the execution and character motivation is what makes it better than anything else. Phoenix does an incredible job of balancing multiple types of personalities in the best way possible.

This movie that is set in the 1630s is about a father and his family who have all been banished from a Puritan Plymouth community and try to go out on their own to start a farm in a forest. When a member of their family disappeared out of nowhere, the family has many problems ahead while trying to find him. Robert Eggers, director, spent four years doing research in order to make the movie as real as it could be.
