The name Barbet was created by the French word beard, which was a barbe. The expensive dog could live for fifteen years, and it was hypoallergenic. It had a curly black or coat, and a natural swimmer. The height of the male Barbet could reach 26 inches tall and weigh a maximum of 62 pounds. Barbet was one of the intelligent dogs on the list.
