Mrs. Wood introduced herself to Pam and Natalie and then entered the girl’s bedroom to secure her entrance. Pam fired Darren’s gaze. “What’s the meaning of this?!” she demanded furiously. But she’d already marched off before Darren could clarify. Darren ran frantically through the corridor as the social worker talked privately with Natalie, asking what might come next. Surely she’d get more out of his daughter than he had? Can Natalie finally tell the truth?
