The Last Samurai: Tom Cruise’s Armor Was Too Old

Tom Cruise – a name that could get people to go to the movie theater ASAP. Therefore, when The Last Samurai was released, his name was enough to peak people’s interest. The film follows a retired American officer who encounters samurai warriors in Japan. One thing is off, though. The armor which Cruise dons is too old. As a matter of fact, it’s 250 years too old! His armor existed 250 years before the time period he was in.

Seabiscuit: Strapped Helmets Didn’t Exist Yet

Toby Maguire’s character in the film is a jockey who often dons a strapped helmet. However, such headgear didn’t exist until 1956. He should not have been able to wear one since events in the movie happen during the Great Depression. Either we need another history lesson or we’re totally missing something.
