The filmmakers even spent 18 months trying to find their insight into the killings, which they then used to make the film as incredible as it stands.

This 2006 war film is based on the New York Times best-selling non-fiction book surrounding the story of five Marines and one Navy corpsman, who is credited with raising the American Flag on Iowa Jima. Although the film didn’t make a dent in the box office, it is still commended for its genuine capture of history.
