Spartacus

A Thracian gladiator by the name of Spartacus was named the leader of the escaped slaves who wished to rebel against their authoritative figures during the Third Servile War. This war was the final one in a long series of slave rebellions around Ancient Rome. The film was made in 1960 and was based on the 1951 novel by the same title.

Kingdom Of Heaven

Although its a fictionalized version, this film follows the life of Ballan of Ibelin an aristocrat from the Western-occupied Crusader nation, the kingdom of Jerusalem. During the crusades of the 12th century, a french village blacksmith comes to help his beloved kingdom against the Ayyubid Muslim Sultan, Saladin. The characters are real people and the scenes have historical accuracy, although its difficult to do the events justice.
