Ben Hur

While this film isn’t exactly a true story it is definitely inspired by true events. Created in 1959, the classic film follows the story of fictional Judah Ben-Hur, a Jewish prince who goes on to be a chariot racer after being enslaved by the Romas. This film about betrayal, conviction, and redemption is created hand in hand with the tale of Jesus. Both Ben-Hur and Jesus even meet in the film. The film is based on a series of eight novels, where the author did extensive research on the Middle East that related to the time period covered in his novel, to ensure historical accuracy.

Patton

In 1970 this epic biographical war film was created that follows the story of U.S General George S. Patton, who made history with his prominent authority during World War II. The main focus is on Patton’s career from 1942-1945 and illustrates his strengths and failures that make him the successful and intelligent man that he is. The director accurately captures the essence of Patton as an outstanding soldier and we also witness his bravery throughout the film. In this case, there was no attempt to destroy Patton’s story despite subtle inaccuracies. Most of the details stay true to their origin, however, there are some omissions and exaggerations like any film based on history.
