The SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance airplane, which was located at Area 51, was alleged to have been the source of the UFO rumors that first appeared in the 1960s. The plane appeared to be so futuristic in appearance that the public assumed it was a UFO that the government was concealing.

Vietnam soldiers shot down John McCain’s plane, killing him on the ground. It crashed into a body of water in Hanoi, Vietnam, and he was captured and held as a prisoner of war as a result. As soon as he touched down, soldiers swooped in to seize him and take him hostage.
