Karate Lover
During Elvis’ time in the army, he got into the art of karate and studied the fighting style chito-ryu. Thanks to the help of his instructor Hank Slemansky, Elvis received a black belt in 1960. The King was known to use his fighting moves while on stage, combining dance and karate into his acts.
Quite The Jokester
Elvis was known to be quite a jokester, frequently changing his lyrics around to get a good laugh. In 1969, he was performing “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” one evening in Las Vegas. He decided to do some lyric switching and instead of singing “Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?”, he sang “Do you look at your bald head and wish you had hair?”
