Hecklers In The Crowd
The world refocused their eyes on Nadia Comăneci once again. She was focused and determined, so much so that she didn’t even notice the hecklers in the crowd. Drunk Russian soldiers shouted out from the stands, “Fall, Nadia! Fall!” And although she hadn’t trained nearly enough before Moscow, she took home 4 medals; two golds and two silvers.

Nadia once again stunned the crowd with a faultless performance, but then controversy struck. Her coach, Bela Károlyi, noticed the judges taking a very long time with presenting Nadia’s score, only to reveal a score that he didn’t see fit. He created a great fuss that was televised worldwide. Claims were that his protest embarrassed his country and Bela started to worry that his life would be in danger when he returned home.
